He brought the T20 world cup, the 2011 world cup and the 2013 ICC champions trophy back to India. But Indian cricket fans still couldnat support him during tough times and poor form. With the Indian test team doing badly overseas, pressure was mounting on the wicket keeper captain and his bad form with the bat did him no good. This in turn caused critics to doubt his ability and leadership skills and wanted him gone. Unable to cope, he decided to retire from test cricket in 2014 and handed the laurel over to the younger generation.
