So itas only a given that the cricketers are treated like gods by the fans who celebrate every success with them.ABut sometimes, only sometimes if those same gods donat do well, we go ballistic. We start throwing bottles on grounds that were once considered hallowed places. We start insulting and threaten the very people we once worshipped. A part of the Great Indian Batting quartet, VVS Laxman was one of the finest batsmen ever to wear an Indian shirt. He waved goodbye to his career after a string of bad performances saw the Indian fans say that he should give way to the new generation. He did so with grace in 2012 after having given more 16 odd years of his life to cricket.
