Ahead of the September series against Pakistan, West Indies coach Phil Simmons has expressed that it will be challenging for the Caribbean side to perform well in the day and night Test match due to their lack of experience with the pink ball.
This came after the reports that the third and penultimate Test of the series against Pakistan in UAE will be played with the pink ball.
It is matter of worry for Simmons and his team, and he stated the same when he was speaking to the local media,A”It’s going to be hard for us because we have not played enough day night cricket down here to test the ball and to know what happens in the night.”
The coach however added that while the pink ball introduction will be a delight for the fans but the players held certain reservations about the same, “The players have told me it was good from a crowd point of view but a lot of them say that there are a number of things that need to be fixed.”
Post the September series, West Indies is preparing to host their debut day-night test next year while it will testing times for Pakistan as they prep for another day-night Test against Australia in Gabba later this year.
The BCCI in India despite initially planning for a pink ball match in the home series against New Zealand decided against it due to lack on=f input from match officials and players.
