The victory of Chris Froome in Tour de France on Sunday has raised the bar of expectations for his victory in the Rio Olymics. The 31 year old who had won a bronze in 2012 London Olympics will be a part of the the Great Britain cycling team with Bradley Wiggins.

Wiggins believes the victory of Froome in Tour de France,which is one of the most challenging events in the field will encourage him to replicate the same in the Olympics. The odds of Froomeas victory have been further strengthened with clouds of uncertainty surrounding the participation of his chief rival, Dutchman Tom Dumoilin due to injury. Wiggis is confident that Froome will maintain his good form in the Rio Games from starting next month where Froome will participate in both time trial and road race.
Addressing the British media the 36 year old cyclist who had replicated his Tour de France victory in 2012 to his victory in London Olympics said, a?I think it’s probably harder for him this time. He has to travel out to a completely different continent whereas we came back home, and that is probably more of a challenge for Chris,a? Wiggins emphasized that it is important to lay focus on the track in Rio and is highly affirmative for Froome in the Olympics.
