The group stage of the Cricket World Cup 2019 continues as the Kiwis take on the Lankan side at the Sophia Gardens stadium in Cardiff.

We take a look at five players who will likely play a key role in the outcome of the game.

Sri Lanka New Zealand Boult

Trent Boult : The Swinging pacer Trent Boult would be certainly the player to watch out for New Zealand in the first match. The Kiwi pacer has bagged 147 wickets in 79 matches and also was the player to watch out for in the 2015 World Cup.

Martin Guptill : The right handed batsmen Martin Guptill will be an important asset for New Zealand as he opens up the innings for the side. The 32-year-old will be playing his 3rd World Cup and has already scored 2 centuries in the big event with 237 not out being his best performance against West Indies in the quarterfinals of 2015 World Cup. A lot of expectations will be riding on him.

Angelo Mathews : The very experienced player in the Sri Lankan lineup Angelo Mathews will have a lot on his shoulders as he is set to play his 3rd World Cup for Sri Lanka. The 31 year old has been a perfect all-rounder for his side scoring 5381 runs and picking up 114 wickets.

Lasith Malinga: The most important and well experienced player Lasith Malinga will be supporting his side with his bowling. The 35 year old will be playing his 4th and last world cup. He has been the most valuable asset for his team. He is the yorker specialist.

Kane Williamson: The most consistent player in the New Zealand lineup, Kane Williamson will be leading the side. He has an very good and consistent batting average of 45.90 which will be very important for his side. Williamson scored very well in the two warm-up matches and has shown that he is ready for the main event.

It will be interesting to see if the less fancied Sri Lankan side are able to give a tough fight to the Kiwis.
