Pakistan on the brink of defeat in the 2nd Test Match.

After losing the 1st Test match by 75 runs at Lordas, England come back strong in the 2nd Test at Old Trafford. The Merciless England side all set to square the 4 match Test series 1 a 1.

England batting first posted a mammoth total of 589 a 8 (declared). Joe Root being the pic of the batsman with a humungus individual score of 254 runs. In reply to this huge total Pakistan saw themselves at 57 runs with the loss of 4 scalps at the end of Day 2. The start of the next day was also on the same lines when Shan Masood perished on the score of 39.

Rain intervention for about 90 mins could not change the story for Pakistan as they lost Asad Shafiq quite cheaply when play resumed. A fighting Sarfaraz Ahmed walked to the batting crease and showed some counter attacking intent but he was dismissed by Ben Stokes on 26. Wahab Riaz and Misbah joined to score a fighting 60 runs together for the 9th wicket but an unnecessary sweep by Misbah led to his downfall and as a result Pakistan were bowled out for 198.

It was quite evident that Cook would have enforced a follow on on the Pakistan side but he had some other plans. England walked onto the field to bat once again. Cook and Root stayed firm at the crease at the end of the days play at 98/1 and a huge lead of 489.

At the last update Pakistan were struggling at 41/2 in the 2nd innings with 566 runs to win the Test Match.
