Royal Challengers Bangalore cruised to an impressive win in their first home game of the season against Delhi Daredevils. Rishabh Pantas heroic knock of 57 went in vain as Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated DelhiaDaredevils by 15 runs to register their first win in the 2017 Indian Premier League. For RCB, Kedar Jadhav scored a quickfire 69 while Billy Stanlake, IqbalaAbdulla and Pawan Negi took two wickets.
It’s not often that a team defends a relatively modest total at the ‘small’ Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. But on the night, Royal Challengers Bangalore became the first team since 2015 to defend a score under 200 at the ground. RCB won the toss and elected to bat first. Gayle, Mandeep and Shane Watson were back in the pavilion as the scorecard read 55/3 in 8.4 overs at one stage. But Kedar Jadhav (69) propelled his team with a fiery knock that looked set to push their score above 180 but a stall late on meant that they could post a meagre 157/8.
In reply, Delhi Daredevils also got off to a similar start, losing 3 wickets for 55 runs before Rishabh Pant took over with a 36-balls.
The winner was still undecided until the first delivery of the final over of the game, but Rishabh Pantas wicket paved way for RCBas win. Delhi Daredevils lost the game by a margin of 15 runs, to lose their 10th gamRishabh Pant was the standout player for Delhi, who scored a half- century but other players failed to play the role of supporting cast as wickets continued to fall regularly, which also put Pant under some pressure and finally, RCB won the gamee against this franchise in all.
DD have now lost their first match of the season in each of the 5 previous editions. In all these, they have failed to finish in the top 4.
Awesome captaincy was shown by Watson to bring back Pawan negi n last over and he picked up the danger man Rishabh Pant !
It all worked right for RCB today and DD suffered yet another ill fate. The match was a see-saw , but yes the RCB bowlers won it by excellent deliveries and fieldings.
Kedar Jadhav received the Man Of The Match but the hero remains to be Rishabh Pant who after hours of cremating his father ,went on to smash such boundaries and play dat innings. Such an indomitable spirit by the 19yrs old !
The IPL is already producing some real nail-biters and we’re just warming up
