Delhi Daredevils take on Mumbai Indians in a must-win situation to keep their hopes alive for play-off spot.
After an emphatic seven-wicket win over Gujarat Lions, Delhi Daredevils host table-toppers Mumbai Indians at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Both the teams come in with a win in their previous match. Delhi rode on Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samsonas partnership; while skipper Rohit Sharma guided his side to a five-wicket win over RCB. In their previous meeting, Mumbai Indians managed to register a 14 run victory over Daredevils.
Race to be in top four is taking pace. Mumbai wonat feel the pressure as they are the onlyAteam to qualify for the play-offs so far. However, Delhi find themselves in a must-win situation after aAshaky start in the season. So a win tonight for DD will mean that they continue to stay in the hunt for the play-off spot; while on the other hand, MI will look to strengthen their place at the top of the table. It will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma uses his troops against an inform Pant and Samson.
Mumbai Indians, who are returning to action after a four-day break, occupy the top spot in the standings. Before the break, they clinched a last-over win against Royal Challengers Bangalore. MI need one more win to seal a playoff spot; and Rohit Sharmaas side will know they cannot take their opponents lightly.
Delhi hasn’t recovered from what it witnessed on Thursday (May 4) from the bats of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. It was a six-hitting spectacle like never seen before. After finally promoting Pant up the order, Daredevils are seeing the right results. Even for a team that constantly manages to chop and change; pushing Pant back doesn’t seem like an option anymore.
This, without a doubt, is the Daredevils’s biggest hurdle in their quest for a last four spot. Time and time again, Mumbai Indians have found different individuals put their hands up and deliver the results. No one knows that better than the Daredevils themselves. In their earlier clash this season, despite posting a total that many consider below average at a venue like Wankhede, Mumbai had their bowlers come out and bowl at full throttle to decimate Daredevils.
