Indian team was high on confidence after winning the the series opener and entered into the 2nd test as firm favorites on the other hand West Indian team was looking to improve on their game. So here is what happened on Day 1 of the 2nd test match.
The Day started with the West Indian captain Jason Holder winning the toss and deciding to bat first on a pitch which was offering help for the pacers. And Indian bowlers wasted no time in creating a impact on the helpful wicket. Ishant and Shami picked up the wicket of both the openers and Darren bravo and left the West Indian team struggling at 7-3. Blackwood then started to play some strokes and was dominating the Indian bowlers and he was well supported on the other end by Samuels.A Just as the partnership was looking to take the game away from the Indian team Kohli’s go to man Ashwin picked up the price scalp of Blackhood just before the lunch and put India in a commanding position going into lunch.

After lunch Samuels started to play freely and smacked Ishant for 3 consecutive four in an over and also smacked Ashwin for a six but soon after that Ashwin got the better of him and dismissed him for 37. Roston, Dowrich, Holder didn’t stick around much and the same old story continued for the West Indies. Meanwhile Ashwin took his 18th fifth wicket haul by dismissing Bishoo. Cummins and Gabriel then played a typical tailender like innings playing shot on every ball and frustrated Indian bowlers for a little while before Mishra dismissed Gabriel for 15 and West Indian sorry looking innings ended on 196.
Indian innings started with KL Rahul opening instead of Vijay who didn’t recovered from his thumb injury. Rahul and Dhawan played cautiously against the new ball and India got off to a pretty good start. Dhawan faiiled again to convert his start into a good innings as he dismissed for 27. After that Pujara along with Rahul played well and ensured India suffer no more hiccups. Rahul got to his fifty and India eneded the day on high with the score of 126-1 just trailing by 70 runs with nine wickets in hand.
West Indies will look to pull something out of their sleeves to stop the Indian juggernaut otherwise India will run away with the game very quickly.
