The Indian men’s kabaddi team continued their brilliant form in the Asian Games as they defeated Thailand 63-26 in their second group match in Hangzhou on Wednesday. The Indian team took a massive lead at 37-9 through three All Outs in the first half before consolidating the lead in the second half.
Speaking about the Indian side’s performance, former Pro Kabaddi League star Rishank Devadiga said, “The Indian team has produced strong performances at the Asian Games so far. The group stage matches are important for sides to set their team combinations and India have used their first two games very well to do so.”
The Indian team are set to take on Chinese Taipei and Japan in their final two group matches on Thursday. When asked if playing two games on the same day would be difficult for the Indian side, Devadiga said, “It won’t be difficult for the Indian side at all. India have a strong bench strength and they have the players for all kinds of situations. They won’t receive much of a challenge from their next two opponents.”
The former raider further added, “However, Japan have prepared well for the Asian Games by practising in India. They are a good team, but the match against them wouldn’t be too tricky for the Indian team.”
Devadiga also expressed that the Indian team will bring glory to our country, “The Indian team will receive a strong challenge in the semi-final and final, but the side is ready for it. I am sure that the Indian team will win Gold this time.”
India will be up against Chinese Taipei at 8 AM IST and will take on Japan at 1:30 PM IST on 5th October 2023.
