New Delhi, September 22, 2023: Defending champions St. Patrick’s High School, Gumla, Jharkhand, former champions Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Prothishthan (BKSP) and G.S.S.S Alakhpura, Bhiwani, Haryana were among the quarterfinalists which were decided after four days of intense action of the 62nd Subroto Cup Inter School International Football Tournament Junior Girls (U 17) being played at various venues of the national capital. Saiden Secondary School, Ri-Bhoi, Nongpoh, Meghalaya; Ananda Purna School of Science, Thoubal, Manipur; Lohit Dikrong H.S.S, Lakhimpur, Assam; Tripura Sports School, Tripura and Home Mission School, Aizawl (NCC) are the other quarterfinalists who qualified as group winners from their respective groups.

In the final day of group matches, St. Patrick’s High School, Gumla, Jharkhand beat Govt. V.H.S.S, Kannur, Kerala 7-0 and Tapovan Sanskar Kendra, DLSS Bharuch, Gujarat beat Air Force Bal Bharti School, New Delhi 9-0 in the Group F matches played at Ambedkar Stadium. Anita Dungdung scored a hat trick for the school from Jharkhand, while the other match saw Prasad Khushbu, Pateliyamahi and Vasava Riya score hat tricks for the Gujarat side.

At the Tejas Football Ground, Saiden Secondary School, Nongpoh Meghalaya comfortably beat Harish Panwar Senior Secondary School, Nainital, Uttarakhand 11-0 to qualify for the quarterfinals from Group G. Eiladki Ksoo scored four goals, while Imaia Shylla scored a hat trick for the winners. In the other match of the group, Rosary Higher Secondary School, Salcete, Goa played out a goalless draw against Kendriya Vidyalaya IMA, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

In Pool A at G.D Goenka University, Gurugram, Ananda Purna School of Science, Thoubal, Manipur qualified for the quarterfinals, beating G.G.H.SS, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu 4-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals. N. Henarita Devi scored a hat trick for the winners. In the other match of the group, U.MA.V Amlaai Kalari, Annop Pur, Madhya Pradesh scored 29 goals past Navy Children School, New Delhi to finish the tournament in a high. Tejaswani Maravi scored nine goals while Lalita Maravi and Brajkumari Maravi scored six goals each. Somni Dhurwey scored four goals and Ambika Dhurwey helped herself to a hat trick.

At the Subroto Park Football Ground, an injury time goal by Rishika helped G.S.S.S Alakhpura, Bhiwani, Haryana to edge past Infocus India Public School, 24 PGS (N), West Bengal and qualify for the quarterfinals from Group C. In the other match of the group, Government Senior Secondary School, Soreng, Sikkim beat Hatimari High School, Malda, West Bengal 8-2. Smeeta Sunoas scored four goals for the Sikkim side.

In Group D, Lohit Dikrong H.S.S, Lakhimpur, Assam qualified for the quarterfinals by beating Government Secondary School, Shi-Yomi, Arunachal Pradesh 2-0 in the match played at Subroto Park Football Ground. In the final match of the group, Pinegrove School, Solan, Himachal Pradesh beat DNRM GGHSS, Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir 7-0 for their first win in the group.

Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Prothishthan (BKSP) qualified for the quarterfinals from Group B after beating Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22A, Chandigarh 5-0 in the match played at G.D Goenka University, Gurugram. In the other match of the group, Mata Rukmani Kanya Ashram, Bastar, Chattisgarh beat Fountainhead School, Surat 3-0 to end their campaign on a high.

Tripura Sports School, Tripura beat Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pithoragarh, Uttarakahand 7-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals from Group E played at Ambedkar Stadium. In the other match, Govt. Bethlehem Vengthlang Middle School-2, Mizoram ended their campaign with a high beating Vasant Valley, Delhi 5-0.

At the Tejas Football Ground, Home Mission School, Aizawl representing National Cadet Corps edged out Rajendra Kusht Sewashram Balika Uchh Vidyalay Sah Inter College, Bihar 2-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals as winners of Group H. In the final match of the group, Barnes School and Junior College, Nasik, Maharashtra finished with a dominating 9-0 win over Coast Guard Public School, Nani Daman.

The quarterfinals of the tournament will be played on 24th September at the Ambedkar Stadium.
