Even for us Gooners, the season should be great one, that is if we sign a new striker. Yes I know, we at Arsenal haveAbeen doing this dance for 10 years now, since our golden boy signed for Barcelona. Even though we had Van Persie for about 5 years after Henryas departure, who the hell can even replace Thierry?? Sure the Dutchman did manage to patch up that gaping hole left by his former strike partner. But, but then he left for Manchester United, claiming that he was getting old and needed to win titles, that traitor. Donat get me wrong, man wasa classy striker (note the use of the word was) , but thatas just wrong.
But that’s the past and even though Arsene did sign both Oliver Giroud and Lukas Podolski right after Van Persie left, only one remains at the club, and do I have to say anything more? Now whileAGiroud is not a bad striker, he has scored 60 odd goals in a 130+ games but that is still not a title worthy performance. He needs back-up, alone he cannot do anyone any good, but combined with someone. Similar to the way Deschampsa played him during the Euros with Griezmann. And he did well with the Atletico forward, after all they did lead France to the finals.
