1 : Gareth Bale, 93.1 million pounds( Tottenham to Real Madrid)
Gareth Bale like many players, started his youth career and played his first ever senior game for Southampton. He started out as a left back , and made his debut when he was just 16 years old, making him the second youngest player after Theo Walcott to play for Southampton. Then he signed for Tottenham Hotspur a year later and slowly began the transition to the player he is today. He was named PFA playeras player of the year for 2011 and 13, and FWA Footballer of the year in 2013 also. This and other impressive years from 2009 onwards, impressed Real Madrid and they signed him. A 6 year deal for an undisclosed amount, which was later, revealed to be 85.1 million pounds. However, in January 2016, documents were leaked which showed the amount to be 93.1 million pounds which included 1 million to Southampton.
