Despite the injury, Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed that he will come back stronger for the upcoming season. He was injured while playing for Portugal in their victorious Euro 2016 final.
The Real Madrid strikeras country was lead to first of its kind major title by him but he limped off in tears with a knee injury in the first half of the final against hosts France.
The 31-year-old had sprained his ligament in the left knee. He is unlikely to return to action before Realas third game of the domestic La Liga season, as was reported by Spanish sports daily Marca.
“Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank all my fans,” Ronaldo said in a video on his Instagram account. “I wanted to tell them that all is well and that I will come back much stronger. Thank you, long live Portugal!” he added.
He was replaced in the 25th minute after suffering the initial injury as the three- time Ballon DaOr winner tried to play on. This was done before Eder grabbed the only goal of the game in extra time to clinch the European Championship for Portugal.
