It’s a battle of Left Backs as Akash & Mumbai City face it’s former Player Vignesh & Hyderbad
Mumbai October 28, 2023: The two heavy weights of Indian football clash, one is a team who wants to carry on from the fantastic football they have played in Mumbai City FC whereas Hyderabad finally look to get their first points of the season against the Shield winners.
Its an interesting matchup considering the history of the games between the two clubs over the past few seasons, it’s been all that you can ask for Drama, entertainment & emotions. This tie has generally been a high scoring and an entertaining one for the Fans and football fanatics. And their head to head tally gives that the team’s have played each other 8 times and managed to share the spoils of Winning against each other twice and like we mentioned the goal scoring fest this brings has also culminated into 4 draws.
This year the battle would be different , or rather then say battle will among the Left Backs who have contractually swapped their allegiance’s. Akash Mishra , a name which was so sought after Indian football after his spell with the Nizam’s & has been one of the biggest signings in ISL’s history, on the other hand the Islanders had to let go of their top players who comes with a varied range of experience and most importantly a consistently performing left back who has made a huge impact on the Fan’s since his arrival.
With these two left back’ s who look to shine against their former clubs , there has also been some major changes for Hyderabad with the departure of Head coach Manolo Marquez who signed with Goa , but also made history with Thangboi Singto leading them.
Des in his press conference reaffirmed that this season they will be facing a different Hyderabad team , and it’s important for them to be mindful. The team is coming out of a humbling defeat to Al Hilal in their AFC tie, in which they let their game slip up after the 60th Minute. Also Des stated about same point last year.
“I think it’s three games into the season. And when I put that into context this time last season, we scored the same amount of goals. After three games. We’ve conceded the same amount of goals, but we’re two points better off this season than we were last, you know? So we’re already in a better position this year than we were last year.”
While Thangboi said it’s even Steven in terms of the stats , he reiterated that his team are more focussed than ever and know the challenges that lie ahead “We are working hard for the game. It will not be an easy game because it is an away game. However, we will work hard for the game,” he said.
“It is always very difficult to play against Mumbai City FC because they are very tactically sound.”
The two teams are ready for the much awaited battle and look set for an interesting game of football between the two current and former shield winners.
Mumbai will be without both Yoell Van Nieff & Rostyn Griffiths as they face suspension of three & one games respectively
