Arsenal dealt a major blow as Alexis leaves Chile training with a low grade muscular injury

Up till a few days ago, this season was turning out to be spectacular one for Arsenal and the Gunners fans alike. But then news came around that Alexis Sanchez had been injured during a training session while he was on international duty with Chile.

After a horrific 4-3 loss to Liverpool back in August, Arsenal has yet to lose a game in all competitions. Having pulled a late equalizer against PSG, then pummeling Chelsea, and having won 7 and drawn 3 games in the Premier League, the season was on a roll. All this was a summer in which frustration seemed to be the only thing that Arsenal had bought so far. Not excitement over new players, or even the possibility of new players, but all that changed and it must be said that it was partly due to the positivity and resolve shown by Arsene Wenger and the coaching staff.

Now it seems all that positivity could come crashing down, just like it always does every November for Arsenal. One of the main reasons for the sudden turnaround from that 4-3 loss was the return of Alexis Sanchez and his introduction to a new center forward role. His ability to adapt impressively well to the pressure of the front man, produced a change in the Arsenal team. But now with his national governing body stating a?The Medical Corps of the Chilean national team informs the player Alexis Sanchez has a low-grade muscle injury.AThe athlete will stay in Santiago, under treatment and in evaluation.a

Alexis had managed to give hope and motivation to a club seriously mauled by injuries and what not. The Chilean has certainly enjoyed his new role as a center forward, scoring 8 goals in 15 games and proving assists for 5 goals, including Ozilas brilliant volley against Chelsea, and his header against Watford!! However, after leaving training with the Chile national squad on the very first day of training, the hope he has built so far may come crashing down within the next few days.

What will happen now??!

With Danny Welbeck injured for the foreseeable future and Lucas Perez still unavailable for a few weeks, Wenger has only Giroud to turn to. While the Frenchman may have brilliant aerial ability and strength as his main qualities, he is a completely different center forward from Alexis.

With Alexis as the main man up front, Arsenal have this fluidity, which allows players to exchange positions and makes the Gunner unpredictable, especially with their impressive passing plays. Giroud doesnat possess the same ability and this is certainly very worrying for anybody related with Arsenal!!
