Arsene Wenger finally splashed the cash and finally signed two players: Lucas Perez and Shokdran Mustafi. With the fans behind him, Wenger finished his transfer business just before the deadline day and made the fans happy. Shokdran Mustafi, the former Valencia defender has been considered by many as one of the best young defenders. Today we bring 5 facts about him to surprise you guys.
5. He was a former Everton player
Mustafi started his young playing career in the Premier League with Everton after they signed him from Hamburger SV. His Everton career never hit the gear and he only managed to play one official game. He was a benchwarmer, unused and unwanted. Tony Hibbert started while Mustafi remained on the bench. Somewhat surprisingly, Mustafi was allowed to leave Everton at a young age by none other than Manchester United legend David Moyes. The German was on the books at Goodison Park from 2009 to 2012 but made just one appearance for the club, coming on as a substitute in a Europa League match.
He was later sold off to Sampordia in Serie A and the rest is history.
