3. Fernando Torres

Now make no mistake, Fernando Torres was really, really bad at Chelsea. From the heights of 2009 when his partnership with Steven Gerrard had made him the most lethal forward in Europe, he descended into circus-level farce at times during his stay at Stamford Bridge – reaching peak ludicrousness when he rounded David de Gea and shanked over the gaping net against Man United.

After all, Fernando Torres’ trophy cabinet is about as glittering and full as any player could hope for.

He’s won a World Cup, a Golden Boot and two European Championships with Spain, and however torrid his time was in west London, Torres took a Champions League winners medal away from his time at Chelsea, not to mention a Europa League one and an FA Cup.

Plus the fact he scored just seven goals in his first two Premier League seasons in London before eventually going on to reach 20 in a four-year spell.

When people talk about a waste of money, Torres is the first name on most lips.
