Lehmann started as head coach of Australia in a bizarre fashion when they lost to England 3 a 0. But the failure at the start of his campaign could not stop the former Australian batsman. He guided his team to series victories in India, South Africa, England, New Zealand and West Indies. Australia is the No. 1 ranked side in the Test as well as ODI formats. Under his services Australia also clinched the all important World Cup 2015 in their own backyard.
Darren Lehmannas contract was due to end in June 2017 but Australia Cricket Board has extended his contract till 2019 as head coach of the side. He is due to cover the World Cup in 2019 as well as the Ashes series in his contract. Australia are currently trailing 1 a 0 in a three match test series in Sri Lanka.
Darren has had humongous success with team Australia. He along with the National selection panel are subject to a lot of credit and appreciation as they have managed to take a very young Aussie side to the 1st spot in two formats.
