GOA, APRIL 3: Ambernath United Atlanta FC suffered their first defeat in two years since their inception. AUA FC was in Goa this past week for a double header against Goa Reserves and Dempo SC. They were held to a 3-3 draw on Thursday against Goa Reserves. After going 1-0 down in that game, they managed to take a 2-1 lead and then a 3-2 lead but were pegged back level both the times and were eventually held to a 3-3 draw

Yesterday, AUA FC succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Dempo SC who managed to turn around a 1-0 deficit in their favour. Ashley Koli had put AUA FC 1-0 in the 17 minute courtesy a brilliant free kick. For the first time in four matches AUA FC had established a 1-0 lead, previously having to come back from 1-0 down. The first half did not produce any more goals as AUA FC took a 1-0 lead into halftime.


The match turned on its head in the ten minutes leading up to the hour mark. Dempo SC equalised in the 51st minute through Shallum Pires and in the 60th minute went ahead by a 2-1 scoreline through Necio Fernandes. AUA FC head coach made 5 substitutions to freshen up the legs and go in search of a turnaround but Dempo SC held firm to their 2-1 lead. As a result of this defeat AUA FC suffered a loss for the very first time in a competitive match since it was founded.

Group D had ARA FC on 8 points from the four matches played and both AUA FC and Dempo SC were tied on 5 points from the three matches played before today’s result. Dempo SC now find themselves level on points with ARA FC, 8 points from the four matches played. AUA FC remain on 5 points from their four matches played ( 1 win, 2 draws and 1 loss). Hyderabad Reserves and Goa Reserves remain at the bottom two spots with 1 point from 3 matches as they collide today.

Ambernath United Atlanta FC have four matches left and will now head to Mumbai for a home double header against Goa Reserves and Dempo SC. With Goa Reserves being on Friday, 7th April 2023, 4.30pm and the match against Dempo SC on Tuesday, 11th April 2023, 4.30pm kickoff.
