5 things we learned from the I-League’s Maharashtra Derby

Mumbai FC faced DSK Shivajians in their I-League opening fixture in the Maharashtra Derby. Mumbai were victorious thanks to a Thoi Singh screamer which proved the winner. The match was evenly contested with both teams playing their hearts out but Mumbai emerged with the bragging rights.

Santosh Kashyap and Dave Rogers, mangers of Mumbai FC and DSK Shivajians respectively, both practice a philosophy of attacking football which was evident from the way they approached the game. Both the teams played free flowing , dynamic football with DSK starting brightly with inroads into the Mumbai box and creating chances from counter attacks. Mumbai FC meanwhile employed a building approach, where they built the attacks from the midfield and relied on the pace of their players.
